"Flesh" by David Szalay. Winner of the 2025 Booker Prize.

The author writes with a very detached style from the characters. It is effecting but I did not feel emotionally engaged. There are some tense moments and some very emotional ones. I was left feeling puzzled and wondering if the title is the key to understanding the book. It is definitely not predictable. I'll admit I read this as it won the Booker prize.
