"There are Rivers in the Sky" by Elif Shafak

This is a sweeping epic of a book, telling the stories of three characters. It's beautifully written and there's a poetic quality to the phrases used. But I found that there was a lot of scene setting and then the real stories took place in the latter parts of the book. I wanted to be captivated by the book but found myself sometimes half heartedly picking it up.
